Surgicryl PGA
Synthetic absorbable surgical sutures - For veterinary use only!
Use within 4 months after 1st opening!
Advantages
- Minimal tissue reaction
- Excellent tissue support
- High tensile strength
- Supple tissue drag thanks to special coating
- Very easy to handle
- Excellent knot security
- Reduced capillary action
Absorption
Resorption occurs gently through hydrolysis - as opposed to natural sutures which are decomposed by phagocytosis.
- Completely absorbed after 60-90 days
- Approximately 50% of tensile strength remains after 21 days
Applications in Veterinary Medicine
- Soft tissue adaptation and/or ligature
- General surgery
- Skin closure
- Visceral surgery
Surgicryl PGA should not be used in neurosurgery, cardiac or vascular surgery. Due to its resorbable nature, it should not be used for tissue adaptation requiring long-term suture support. Caution is also advised with animals that have delayed wound healing (e.g., due to a weakened immune system).
